Type E (CEE 7/5) is used mainly in France, Belgium, Poland, Czechia and Slovakia. What makes it unusual is that the earth contact is a pin protruding from the socket, and the plug has a matching hole. Almost all plugs sold today are the hybrid CEE 7/7 version, which has both the hole for the French pin and the side clips used by German type F sockets – so in practice E and F plugs are interchangeable. Only a pure type F plug without the hole will not go into a type E socket.
What it looks like
Two round pins 4.8 mm thick and 19 mm apart, a hole for the socket's earth pin; the socket is recessed.
The drawings are schematic – they show the pin layout, not the exact dimensions of the standard.
