Type F, known as Schuko (from German Schutzkontakt, protective contact), is the most widespread grounded plug in continental Europe and is also used in Russia, Turkey, Indonesia, South Korea and many other countries. The earth connects through metal clips at the top and bottom of the recessed socket rather than through a pin. The plug is symmetrical, so it can go in either way round. Most plugs are the CEE 7/7 hybrid, which also fits French type E sockets.
What it looks like
Two round pins 4.8 mm thick and 19 mm apart, two flat earth contacts on the edges, round body.
The drawings are schematic – they show the pin layout, not the exact dimensions of the standard.
